Description

This custom mounting bracket is designed specifically for the Orbit B-hyve XD 4-Port Smart Hose Watering Timer. Model/Part number 24634 or 24639. This 4-port model needs a way to attach it to a post or fence. The bracket can be mounted via 2 options: use screws in various hole patterns or zip tie. Additionally, the bracket lets you simply clip the timer into place—no screws required to hold the timer in place.

It is meant to be printed on it's side so that the “L” geometry is along the print XY axis. This means it does not rely on multiple parts or have critical geometry along the printer’s weak Z-axis, which I wanted to avoid.

I printed with ASA-CF for long term UV resistance. But ABS or PETG should work as well. PLA is not recommended.

The pre-sliced model has 4 walls and 5&5 floor/ceilings. This is surely over-engineered, but my application has me regularly moving the garden hoses while attached to the timer so I wanted the extra strength. This heavy duty slicing setting used only ~65g of filament. It can be reduced to save filament.

For mounting, I used qty=2 of #10 screws. #10 screws are 0.19" or 4.8mm. Countersunk head is 0.36" or 9.1mm.
The holes in the model are 5.1mm diameter with a 5mm chamfer to allow for up to 10mm countersunk head size.
Alternatively, any zip tie with width <7mm should work.

Note: Since mounting screw holes are crossing the z-axis, do not over tighten. Avoid using impact driver or something that will over-tighten and cause a crack to form along the z-axis.
