Description

This adapter will let you insert a Remington 597 Magazine into a Ruger 10-22 rifle.  Why? Because Ruger designed a pistol based on the same mechanism as the 10-22 carbine a few years back and that made the Canadian Governement declare any Ruger 10-22 magazine with higher capacity than 10 rounds to be illegal.  Frustrating since the canadian gun law also specifies that a rifle of caliber 22LR can have magazines of unlimited capacity.  But since it would be possible to insert a 30 rounds magazine into the Ruger pistol, it makes it illegal because the canadian gun law limits the capacity of a pistol magazine to 10 rounds. Funny enough, RCMP (canadian federal police) has oficially stated that this adapter is perfectly legal in Canada. I based the design on the Adapter made by SB. From pictures and dimensions of my previous projects.  I prefer my version where the adapter is fixed to the Remington magazine because it lets you operate the original magazine release. Also, I realized that SB's design for the mag release was not working properly for me.  You will need 2 or 4 M3 countersunk screws to fix the adapter to a Remington magazine.  You may have to adjust the exact proper height.  The small plate at the front is intentionally left flat so you can machine it yourself for a perfect fit to you rifle chamber entrance.  Enjoy!
