Modular Silverware/Flatware Organizer

Backstory

My wife and I were getting fed up with the standard organizer we picked up at Target. So, I designed this set of modular containers to hold everything just the way we needed. Now, everything has a home, and nothing feels out of place.

Design

I’m not exactly sure what brand our stainless-ware is, but no doubt these won’t fit everyone’s perfectly. To help with that, I’ve included all the dimensions of the openings to the best of my ability so you can determine if yours will fit.

Dimensions

All components are made up of 2.25" x 2.25" ‘blocks’ and are 3" tall. Be sure to check if the height fits in your drawers! These have “I" connectors at the block centers. Next to each name, I’ve listed the configuration of blocks for each component. For example, a 4x1 component is four blocks long by one block wide.

1. Utensils - Depth: 2"
   1. Knives (5x1 blocks, 11.25"x2.25")
      1. Length: 10.75"
      2. Width: 1.75"
   2. Large Fork (4x1 blocks, 9"x2.25")
      1. Length: 8.5"
      2. Head Width: 1.25"
      3. Neck Width: .5"
      4. Handle Width: 1.125"
   3. Small Fork (4x1 blocks, 9"x2.25")
      1. Length: 7.75"
      2. Head Width: 1.25"
      3. Neck Width: .5"
      4. Handle Width: 1"
   4. Large Spoon (4x1 blocks, 9"x2.25")
      1. Length: 7.625"
      2. Head Width: 1.625"
      3. Neck Width: .5"
      4. Handle Width: 1"
   5. Small Spoon (4x1 blocks, 9"x2.25")
      1. Length: 6.75"
      2. Head Width: 1.625"

   6. Long Spoon (4x1, 9"x2.25")

   7. Severing Spoon (5x1, 11.25"x2.25")

2. Bins - Depth: 2.25"
   1. Outside dimensions are equal to their block dimensions multiplied by 2.25"
   2. Internal dimensions are equal to their outside dimensions minus .5".
3. Spacers - These are used if your drawers happens to be an odd width or length.
   1. Width: (half-block, 1.125")
