Description
This 3D-printed Pill Cutter/Splitter is designed for precise and effortless pill cutting, utilizing a Bambulab Scraper blade as the cutting mechanism. The design focuses on ease of use and versatility, making it ideal for cutting multiple pill sizes with minimal effort.
Key Features:
- Modular Design: The project includes a "base," a "body," and multiple pill baskets. The body holds the blade and slides down two M5 dowels for controlled cutting.
- Multiple Basket Sizes: Five baskets are included to accommodate various pill sizes: 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, and a universal basket for pills from 3mm to 18mm.
- Spring-Loaded Mechanism: The dowels are equipped with springs (0.5x6x30mm) to assist the cutting process, making the body return to its resting position after each cut.
How It Works:
- Insert the appropriate pill basket into the base.
- Place one or multiple pills into the basket.
- Position the body (with the blade installed) onto the dowels.
- Press the body downward to cut the pills cleanly.
Bill of Materials:
- 1 Bambu Scraper blade
- 2 M2.6x8 self-tapping screws
- 2 M5x40 mm dowels
- 2 0.6x6x30mm springs
Printing Instructions:
- Print the base and body in PLA, PETG, or ABS.
- Print the pill baskets preferably in TPU to reduce pill shattering during cutting. The TPU allows slight pill expansion while cutting, ensuring a cleaner split.
- Set the seam to the back.
- Use 3 wall loops for extra durability.
- Enable supports for the body.
Assembly Instructions:
- Insert the blade into the body. (When looking at the body from the side with screw holes, the blade hole nearest the top left should align with the left screw hole.) Use pliers for this step, as the embedded pins inside the body will provide resistance to hold the blade securely.
- Secure the blade using the two M2.6x8 self-tapping screws with a 2mm hex wrench.
- Insert the two M5 dowels into the base. A small hammer may be needed to fully seat them.
- Place the two springs onto the dowels.
- Insert one of the pill baskets into the base.
- Place the body onto the dowels and let it rest on the springs.
