Wheelchair Joystick Octopus with articulated arms

When you use a (power) wheelchair you get lots of looks and stares. Better make people stare in awe of your amazing octopus joystick! I use a power wheelchair and this octopus joystick is getting lots of positive looks and laughs. It's a great conversation starter. 

This octopus has a hole in the bottom to fit most power chair joystick pins. My joystick has a 6.3mm pin (measured with a cheap caliper). The hole is just a tiny bit bigger so it fits very snug! But the fit definitely depends on the material you choose and the way it shrinks. I use tiny caps with holes to check for the fit with that specific material. A hundreth of a milimeter can make a difference in a spinning joystick or a nice snug fit! This stick won't work with the Edrive system because they have a pin with treads. The pin needs to be smooth!

Putting it on should need some love and determination to get on the chair so it is safe to drive with. Otherwise it would come loose when using your chair and that would be dangerous. It is easily swapped out however and you can turn the octopus around, just like your normal joystick handle. This is also a great gift for the power chair user in your life! And now I have an option for a 3 color way, optimised with as little waste and changes possible! You can also just take the one color version and change colors at a certain layer to have less waste. When using silk or dual color filament the articulated arms get a bit brittle. It does give a beautiful effect but I do not reccomend it for everyday use. 

After some months of use the fit will loosen and the octopus might get more spinny. That will be your cue to make a new one in some different colors :P
