Description

Water Meter Sensor Holder for ESPHome and HomeAssistant

I'm tracking my water usage via ESPHome and HomeAssistant by using an inductive proximity sensor which detects the small spinning metal plate within the water meter. To mount the inductive proximity sensor at the right place I designed this holder. Many newer water meters have a plastic cover at the bottom half which can be removed and replaced with this holder. I successfully tested with Trinnity and Wehre water meters.

The water meter ESPHome projects you usually find on the internet use a different sensor and require a lot more space in front of the meter which I didn't have. The sensor I used is a bit more expensive than other sensors you may find elsewhere but two cheap one's stopped working after a year for me while the more expensive ones already work since two years. I connected the sensor with a cheap D1 Mini with case.
