1:2000 RMS Queen Mary Ocean Liner Model, Ultra-High Precision Waterline Version
Print Profile(1)

Description
Ocean liners were once the most comfortable and luxurious means of transoceanic travel. In the history of ocean liners, the RMS Queen Mary (QM), a paragon of the 1930s, undoubtedly holds a prominent place. Following the Great Depression of the late 1920s, which impacted the world, Europe experienced a golden age lasting nearly eight years. Large, luxurious ocean liners, previously deserted during the Depression, experienced a resurgence. Cunard Line, a British company renowned for its numerous large and fast ocean liners, immediately established the Queen Mary as its largest and most luxurious vessel upon its completion. With a displacement exceeding 80,000 tons and a top speed exceeding 32 knots, its interior décor adhered to traditional British style, offering a more calming and comfortable experience than its competitor, the Normandy, a modern French vessel. During World War II, the Queen Mary served as a rapid troop transport, carrying 800,000 personnel to and from various war zones, making significant contributions to the defeat of Nazi Germany. After the war, the Queen Mary resumed its passenger service. With advancements in aviation technology, transoceanic flights gradually encroached upon the ocean liner’s viability, forcing the Queen Mary's retirement in 1967, marking the end of the era of transoceanic liners. Today, the Queen Mary rests peacefully in Long Beach, open for visitors to explore and experience the poetic maritime life of that era. The Queen Mary leaves us not with regret, but with endless reminiscences and contemplation of that time.
Driven by my fondness for this ocean liner, this model boasts the most intricate details and highest precision within my ocean liner series. This 1:2000 scale model of the Queen Mary measures approximately 15cm in length, faithfully preserving all the ship's iconic features with exceptional accuracy. It is designed for single-plate printing, requiring no assembly. Details include the anchor chain and mooring bollards at the bow, all lifeboats and davits, the two masts, and the multi-layered deck supports and staircases at the stern. These details are all achievable with a single-plate print. Due to only having an AMS Lite, I have simplified the color scheme to black, white, gray, and silver to be compatible.
I printed it using a standard 0.4mm nozzle and a high-precision 0.12mm layer height, with a print time of 6.5 hours. Although time-consuming, the print quality is exceptionally refined. For those short on time, a 0.2mm layer height is also viable, but the detail will be significantly reduced. Caution is advised when removing the tree-like supports near the bridge to prevent warping; the masts are quite slender and should be handled with care to avoid breakage.
