Print Instructions & Recommendations

  • All parts in the model files can be printed without supports (with current orientation).

  • All parts can be printed with 0.20mm layer height, however for the parts in Rotation Mechanism.stl file, 0.12mm layer height is recommended for smoother rotations.

Assembly Instructions

  • No additional material is needed for the assembly. Just print and snap.

  • An assembly animation is provided below to make the process a lot easier. Orientation of all parts in the animation is identical to model files so that you can take reference.

Model Information

  • Dimensions (X-Y-Z) | Assembled: 243.3 x 48 x 86.4 mm
  • Commercial Use: Terms and conditions are available on Patreon.

Very cool project, I'll use it a lot with my students. If the main bar were whole, it would really be better and more stable. Congratulations on the project and sharing with us

Thank you for the kind words and valuable feedback. I will be releasing a single-bar version as well (hopefully soon) and will notify you once it is available. In the meantime, I would love to hear any ideas or suggestions you may have that could help make certain concepts easier to teach or understand. Kind regards.

Came out great. I combined the two halves of the rod like someone else suggested and it works beautifully. printed everything on a P1S except the base which I printed on a Prusa MK4S. Gonna give it to my friend who is a computer science teacher.

This is a beautiful model and it was great to be able to use this in class when talking about binary. I initially had problems with the axle flexing, which resulted in the carry tabs occasionally missing each other or failing to hold onto each other when carrying multiple bits. I printed the axle again, but combined both of the pieces so it printed as one piece, and it was more consistent. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much for these kind words and support! It makes me proud when a model is used for such purposes. I am genuinely happy that you shared this. About the center beam, you are right. I have been told about this, and making it thicker and stronger is on my to-do list. It is great you sorted it out and I believe others can benefit from that idea until I post an update. Last but not least, I would be extremely happy if you would like to give suggestions for such models help students learn basic concepts by interacting with them. So far we have the counter and Fibonacci sequence but I am willing to contribute more. Any idea is greatly appreciated! Happy printing!

Replying to @ERAVIA :
Just issues with the first binary number not sliding smoothly on the rod. Great otherwise!
