Description

This is my 3D-printed version of the cover for Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson, part of my ongoing project to recreate the covers of my digital library. I read the book on my Kindle, but I wanted a way to display these amazing covers on my bookshelf—and 3D printing them seemed like the perfect solution. This one was printed with just four colors using a 0.4mm nozzle, and I love how it brings out the elegant silhouette of Tress, the intricate floral details, and the mystical vibes of the Emerald Sea. It’s such a fun and unique way to celebrate these stories while adding a personal, creative touch to my collection.

The model has been created from a cover photo using HueForge. Below are the filaments I used and layer color-change settings in case you want to print without an AMS (you can absolutely do this without an AMS, pausing the print 3 times to manually change the filament):

Print at 100% infill with a layer height of 0.08mm with a base layer of 0.16mm

Filaments Used:
PLA+ Sunlu Black Transmission Distance: 0.6

PLA Paramount 3D British Racing Green Transmission Distance: 3
PLA+ Numakers Grass Green Transmission Distance: 4
PLA PolyLite Yellow Transmission Distance: 11

Swap Instructions:
    Start with Black
At layer #6 (0.56mm) swap to British Racing Green
At layer #15 (1.28mm) swap to Grass Green
At layer #20 (1.68mm) swap to Yellow for the rest.
