Description

Finally finished designing the rest of the micro server based around my tiny Kamrui mini PC. Mounting hardware is all M3 (mostly 4-8mm length, just get a set with various lengths and you'll be set). The pc lid is replaced with a 120mm fan mount for much better cooling and the rear of the drive cage uses an 80mm fan. Fans are currently run off an adjustable boost converter module from ebay/aliexpress, adjusted to 12V and plugged into a spare usb port for power. I've actually slightly undervolted them a bit to ensure they run super quiet but still maintain reasonable temps. Software is Open Media Vault and Tailscale to enable accessing the server from outside my network. So far works great!

Supports both Western Digital and Seagate portable drives (see drive cage project page for specific models). I used the cables that came with the portable drives to connect them inside the chassis, some bending will be required. With just the external cage filled with 6tb WD my passport drives this server can add up to 18TB plus the internal sata drive in the Kamrui. I currently have a 4TB ssd in the Kamrui but obviously that can be swapped out with a higher capacity drive in the future.
