This accessory allows for quick depth adjustment of the Makita track saw, and the scale indication also takes into account the track thickness. Fine-tuning of the depth is also possible.

Edit after use - This is a great idea but no where near strong enough for use on a tool like this. The internal tooth that locks into the curved "gear" snaps off very eaily. If it were thicker and stronger then perhaps this could be a winner. O have reverted back to the Makita locking mechanism. Please make the tooth thicker and reduce the number of height settings to allow for the thicker tooth. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Great idea and worked quite well after a few tweaks. first print all the parts 100% infill. they are only small and need the extra strength. second I added a cylinder negative modifier to put a hole down the middle of the stem of the locking part. this allowed me to use it as a drilling guide from behind and drill through both parts as the interference fit is not sufficient to hold it together long term. I could then countersink and screw down from the switch part and screw the 2 parts together with a long thin screw. I also filled the hole from behind with superglue and put a steel rod down to further reinforce it. finally I carefully glued and screw it together and it works great. not sure on the long term robustness of it. perhaps the locking tooth in the gear could be increased and the number of locking positions reduced to accommodate it. I could live with 5mm detents rather than the current 2mm if it was stronger and longer lasting

What is that blue knob/screw doing on top of the block? it just screws in, but seems not to do anything

I thought that to start as well. It is to tune the depth of the cut as the saw hits the top of the screw when you plunge the saw so it can be used to account for any tolerance variation in the saws/prints or positions

This is AWESOME!! I have arthritic hands and so I tight my only option for easy depth setting would mean I’d have to do for the smaller motor and have a Festool, but this fixes that brilliantly!! I would love to see the ‘switch’ somehow connected to the plate, or a screw through the middle that isn’t for fully tightening down but will keep everything together over use as I can see it popping off a bit. there would have to be a captive locking nut on the inside though. I honestly am so happy with this though, thank you!

ok so what I thought might happen did, it was working really well until I was cutting sheet goods outside and it pinged, absolutely no clue what happened to the spring and can’t find my original bits. Will try a spring from a pen or something. This is so close to be great, it just needs to snap together or something

Excellent project! I know it's unrelated to the topic, but would you mind answering a question about this saw? At 45º cuts, could it wear down the rubber more than at 90º cuts?
