The CNS Fujian (Hull Number: 18), is China's first domestically designed and built aircraft carrier with electromagnetic catapults.
The Fujian features a continuous, flat flight deck, equipped with electromagnetic catapults and arrestor gear, with a full-load displacement exceeding 80,000 tons.
As the world's first conventionally powered aircraft carrier to utilize electromagnetic catapult technology, it not only surpasses the steam catapult stage but also demonstrates the advantages of conventional power, renowned for its highly efficient energy storage and exceptional system stability.
Construction of the Fujian commenced in 2018.
On June 17, 2022, with the approval of the Central Military Commission, China's third aircraft carrier was named "People's Liberation Army Navy Fujian," with the hull number "18".
In December 2022, it was included in the list of "Top Ten National Treasures of Central Enterprises in 2022".
On May 1, 2024, the Fujian embarked on its maiden voyage.
On May 8 of the same year, the Fujian successfully completed its eight-day maiden voyage and returned to the Jiangnan Shipyard.
On July 3 of the same year, the Fujian set sail again, with models of J-15 carrier-borne fighter jets on its flight deck.
