Description
Kites originated in China during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, boasting a history of over two thousand years. Legend holds that Mozi spent three years crafting a wooden kite, the earliest known prototype, later improved upon by Lu Ban using bamboo. Following Cai Lun's invention of papermaking in the Eastern Han Dynasty, paper kites gained popularity.
In traditional Chinese culture, the New Year is a time brimming with festivity and blessings. People express their hopes for the future through various means; paper-cut art is a particularly beloved way to adorn homes and enhance the celebratory atmosphere.
