Description

9MM ammo trays designed for the harbor freight apache 550 waterproof storage boxes. These trays are designed very well i have printed around a dozen of them the clearances have been perfected to my liking. Both trays together will hold 290 rounds of 9mm.

p1s settings

.28 layer height

2 walls

50% lightning infill

modifers on all 4 pegs of lower tray with 100% infill for durability

brim

no supports (it gives warning of floating cantilever but my printer handles it just fine with stock filament profile)

4 top shell layers

I just printed this out. love the design. but the top tray needs a small tweak. the notches for picking it up intersects with a casing hole on each side. this makes it very flimsy though the center. need to add some material in the notches. it should be pretty stiff once thats done.

hmm first I’ve heard anyone say this. I’ve printed dozens of these personally as well as a bunch of people on here. thank you for pointing it out. so maybe make the grab area not go in quite as deep?

I haven’t loaded it down with ammo yet but I can definitely see an issue over time. A little more material in these areas should help stiffen it up substantially

I will say I’ve never had a single one I’ve printed come out with material missing between the holes. I’ll see if I have a picture of the 9mm ones empty.

it is actually designed already. I’m putting out 2 versions for 22LR actually. there will be one with round holes as well as square holes. I have lower tray design finished and I am working on the upper tray it will be finished tonight. it will be 700+ rounds too

first I want to say awesome design!!!! Would say though, would be awesome if you would have the socket come up a few millimeters just so that the rounds stay centered, maybe hollowed points would work better, but I’d like the this for a quick range day and 290 hollow points for range day sending would be pricey for me 🤣. I’m new to this so wish I could add a remix.

yeah it was originally designed around a 40s&w and slightly modified. it isn’t perfect forsure. it works pretty well though. I do need to do some tweaks

these pegs need to sit one layer lower because as it sits it puts a lot of strain on the top on the lid when closing it will close but it puts a lot of pressure on the rounds which could lead to the bottom breaking of the top piece. I checked with ammo sitting in the bottom and they move freely I think one layer lower would really fix this and make it better.

the base of the pegs need to be one layer lower is what I mean if you understand.

you saying the spot the upper tray sits on make it one layer lower toward the lower tray?

yes thats correct because if you look closely you can see it having pressure on the rounds sitting in the top tray

Great fit. Trued loading the round with bullet down as shown in the posting but it just rattle around and doesn’t stand up straight. Backside down works much better but make it more difficult to take out. All in all, I’ll print this again if I need more.

Does anyone else have the download file not match the pictures? These notches aren't in the pictures but they are in the download

the cutouts were added after. without them the upper tray is a pain to get out. so adding them is to use your thumb and index finger to pick the top tray up.
