Description

Ever hit your finger on the auxiliary fan going full pelt? It hurts…a lot.

What about when it chucks stray hair or dust at your lovely fresh print? I have 4 cats, their hair gets everywhere.

Anyway, here’s my solution to this, a custom designed fan grating which clips perfectly into the existing Bambu auxiliary fan housing. The grating is fine enough to hopefully block most hairs etc, (certainly fingers!) without affecting airflow too much either, so it feels like a worthwhile compromise.

Supports only required for the 3 clips. Prints fairly quickly too.

Used black PETG to print and it made it much more flexible and easy to fit in. works great. does not reduce noise as much as I hoped, but still helps.

Nice! it’s not designed to reduce noise, more to help catch hairs / fluff etc.

I may be having a brain fart, but how does this install? Do you need to remove the entire fan housing?

Drink less alcohol and stick it directly onto the fan.

Nope! Just need to jimmy it in. Get 2 of 3 lobes located, and gently bend the grating to fit the 3rd lobe in.

I think the effect is fairly marginal. I have noticed difference in cooling performance.

Having 4 cats and 1 dog as well, I can also see the benefit of this. Biggest reason for my use of this though is seeing an erraneous piece of filament sitting on the edge before one print. Seemed super sketchy at the moment. Great print.
