As I have found out, dimensions of half / full pans may vary depending on brand, so I prepared multiple options of boxes and corresponding pans:

19 x 15 mm "half pan" (red background)
19 x 17 mm "Mungyo half pan" (blue background)
28 x 18 mm "full pan" (green background)

Box lids are attached with 4 x 2 mm press fit magnets, 4 magnets in the box and another 4 in the lid.

Bottom side of the lid serve as a palate (best to be printed on 3D effect sheet to be extra smooth).

Pan profiles includes print plates with single, 12, 24 or 40 pans.

My model was printed using copper and white PLA, but you can use maroon red, brown, or any color you like! 🙂

Printed these for my wife and she liked them. It was a little difficult to remove the pans to swap out. I brought the stl into Tinkered and added a little tab. Now they are easier to remove and replace. I did use 4x2 magnets. Just pressed in no glue. So far working well.

It fits 4 x 3 mm magnets perfectly. Also fits the generic half pans you can buy off Amazon / ebay / very well. Thank you :)

Absolutely perfect. Nice big palette that was a tap and go print. Half pans fit in beautifully, magnets were equally as easy to insert.

Hi - do you think you could do a version which would let me insert a 4 x 3 mm magnet? I have tons of those and don't want to have to buy more magnets :) Alternatively, do you think it would work in the current design?

Hi Martin, I test printed the small lid and was able to insert a 4 x 3 mm magnet :) Am going to try printing the 12 pan box next. Do you think you could convert this into a parametric box? The reason is that sometimes I have sets that have 15 pans, some have 18 pans and so on. It would be nice to customise a box for the exact number of pans !

That is a good idea. I did not have time to explore how to convert OnShape project to MakerWorld parametric model. I have it on my todo list for xmas time.

Omg this is genius! Could you pleaseeee design one for full pans that would fit in a 12”x12” tray? It would solve all of my first world storage problems bc I have an addiction to all of the colors! I’ll offer my first born child as payment lol!

Hi, nice design. Suggestions for improvement - Holes for magnets on the bottom, then you could stack - could you design a box in the size of 40 compartments without longitudinal walls? Then you could sort 1/2 bowls and large ones side by side
