Description

Boost Me (for free)

Help me by boosting my models if you like them. Boosts help me be creative by supplying filament to try new things.

A Top Glass and AMS Riser I designed for my X1C as everything else didn't have what I wanted or required too much filament or print time. This is a minimalist design with several criteria I was looking for in a riser. This will also work for the X2D, P1 & P2 series. Each machine has their own print profile due to slight differences in machines except the X2D is the same as the P2 profile.

Existing P2S users:

If you printed before 01-18-26 it was found that the back corners needed extended by 2mm preventing the glass from fully seating. If this has affected the fit to your P2S then reprint only the back 2 corners of the newly added P2 Series print profile.

Top Glass Riser

My initial goal was to raise the top glass so that the PTFE tube didn't constantly rub against the glass, eventually wearing a hole through the PTFE tube. Vents were added to the side for some ventilation as it is recommended to remove top glass or open the front door for PLA.

Front Options

After much feedback, an additional print profile for the P1 Series has been added. The original design fits P1's but covers the SD card. The additional profile IS for access to the SD card. The front options are interchangeable. If you have a P1 and have already printed this you can update to the proper front option. Only the front and the front right corner are different.

Back Options

By request, there is a back option with notches to allow the addition of a light strip. Skip the back (plate 5) and print the Back print profile instead.

AMS Riser

With the AMS on top of the unit that makes it difficult to remove the top glass and I wasn't fond of leaving the front door open (I have cats). An optional AMS Riser was added to provide another level of ventilation. With this, the top glass can be slid into a slot under the AMS creating ventilation through the side vents as well as the top glass open.

This is designed so that the AMS Riser is optional. If you only want the side vents then only the Top Glass Riser is needed (plates 1-6) and the glass will sit on top with the AMS placed on the glass. If you want to remove the Top Glass, then the AMS riser is needed as it supports the AMS independent of the glass allowing the Top Glass to slide into the provided slots.

Also by request, dovetails Have been added to the AMS Riser to allow the addition of accessories such as scraper holders or build plate holders.

Existing users:

The spacing of the AMS feet have been widened a little bit for a better fit as there seems to be various feet spacing across AMS's. This did require a different length AMS Riser Bracket. If you have an existing riser printed and want to update for the feet spacing and accessories the AMS Riser components will have to be reprinted (plate 7 & 8).

HD AMS Riser

If your printer is in a warmer environment (shed, garage, non air conditioned room) there is a possibility in some sag to the AMS Riser. Skip the regular AMS Riser (plate 7 & 8) and print the Heavy Duty AMS Riser print profile instead.

The heavy duty AMS riser has additional components that slide over the top with added dovetails that connect the pieces together better making it more sturdy.

This riser with the additional components might not be needed for some as I have 3 X1C's in air conditioned rooms that haven't had sag.

Dual AMS Riser

If you have 2 AMS units, there is and add-on accessory available. It does require the HD AMS Riser. Follow the instructions above for the HD AMS Riser but skip the slide connectors (plate 3) since there are ones with the Dual AMS option. And print all of the Dual AMS profile.

The main arms slide into the accessory dovetails. Then the slide connectors go on. Note the embossed L&R.

Total print time: 21 h 43 m

   Top Glass Riser (required): 14 h 52 m

   AMS Riser (optional): 6 h 21 m

   HD AMS Riser (optional upgrade): 9 h 27 m

Total filament usage: 821.90g

Top Glass Riser (required): 561.88 g

   AMS Riser (optional): 260.02 g

HD AMS Riser (Optional upgrade): 387.72 g

Supports are only necessary on plates 1 and 2 (specifically the front and the front corners)

ASSEMBLY

Assembly is very simple. All connections are dovetails. The front left and front right corners must be slid into the front from the bottom. Other than that, just be sure of the left and right components and slide the dovetails together. The vents slide into the slots on the bottom side of the sides.

Recessed Lettering has been added to the bottoms of the back corners for identification as the back corners can go on backwards affecting the fit and function.

A Bill of material has been added with an adhesive foam strip to place on the lip under the glass. The strip needs trimmed to width but provides a good seal. This foam strip is optional and not required but is a nice finishing touch.
