Description

Update 12/31/2024:  In response to people not knowing that “tight supports” meant some force required, I updated the instructions for the tight supports profile so it's clear that this is a quality/removal tradeoff.  You will get nice good flat surfaces, but you may need to pop off the supports with a scraper :).  If that doesn't appeal to you, please see the comments about adjustments you can make or use the looser supports profile.

Introducing my take on the Infinity Knot theme, a  fusion of modern art and geometric ingenuity!  Inspired by the complex elegance of a regular hexagonal toroid, this sculpture features a fascinating interplay of symmetry and 90-degree angles, evoking the illusion of endless loops and interconnected paths. Its design pays homage to advanced geometric studies, and is brought here to you from Szilassi’s exploration of toroidal structures, making it a must-have for enthusiasts of symmetry and mathematics.

While the knot looks great on it's own, the Infinity Knot also sits gracefully on three points on top and bottom in one of it's stable flat placements, forming a plane ideal for supporting spherical or planar objects (shown in one of the gallery images). This unique three-dimensional form seamlessly blends art and function, appearing impossibly intricate yet serving a practical purpose.

Whether displayed on a desk, shelf, or as a sculptural focal point, the Infinity Knot transforms any space with its sophisticated allure. Perfect for modern interiors, it’s not just a decoration but a statement—a testament to the beauty of geometric art.

Printed with precision, this mesmerizing object is both a conversation starter and an inspiration for infinite possibilities. Bring home the Infinity Knot and let its timeless elegance elevate your surroundings!

Printing tips:

For Bambu Slicer users, i've got a prearranged file with organic supports tuned to adhere relatively tightly (100% interface pattern @ 0.16 mm gap spacing), but gives a superb finish.  This means the supports do take a little effort to snap off, but they come off clean.  I used a pair of pliers and a scraper to get them off more easily.  The reward is a much better finish than you might get with looser supports.  If you want slightly easier to remove supports, you can try adjusting the gap to 0.2 mm and/or increasing the interface pattern spacing to 0.2 mm  from the 0 mm setting I use here. Alternatively, this print is a great use case for mixed-material supports/ dedicated support interface with a 0 mm gap.

I provide a “Tight" and “loose” supports bambu slicer options here that are prearranged for you, along with the base 3MF file and a STEP file.  I also provide a 200% scale version with looser supports and a 0.2 mm layer height instead of 0.16 mm.
