Description
Welcome back Witches and Wizards! Today we discover what muggles call electricity ;)
I have always wanted to design something using 3D printed gears, so I thought this would be the perfect moment, since I had the Maker's Beginner Kit laying around. Alle non 3d printed parts for this project are contained in this kit.
I wanted to see, if a small DC Motor like the one from the maker beginner kit could be used in reverse as a generator, since the working mechanism of both - motor and generator - are basically the same.
Since the LED candle light is the only other electronic part in the maker's beginner kit, I wanted to see if I can power it with my hand cranked generator. I call it the ‘Makerator’
I printed it this time on my bambu lab A1 Mini because my bambu lab P1S was mostly busy with another big print, but the print profile should fit every bambu printer.
For assembly, please follow my video:
The assembly might get a bit tricky, when the gears get stuck. Try the following then:
- Use Lubrication Oil or WD40 to make the gears run smoother.
- Knock the gearbox on the table a few times to get the gears loose.
- Make sure the Box parts are not to tight, so the gears can move smoothly.
- Try printing with a smooth build plate.
