Description

My own optimized version of this PC fan noise reduction mod.

Less filament and prints in less time.

Still functions the exact same.

PLA is fine for case fans but not for cpu coolers.

PETG or better recommended.

Can be used on case fans and some low profile CPU coolers. Radiators don't see an improvement.

This simple mod reduces the turbulence that your PC case's fan grill creates. Making them sound much more smooth and quite. Inspired by this video, however, my model was made from scratch:

The print profile is no longer public

I printed three items in PETG and initially faced stringing issues, which I later realized were due to moisture in my filaments. Once I got my filament dried down to about 15%, I tried printing again, and the results were perfect.

really appreciate the effort you taking the effort to optimise this. design. Commendable. I do wonder whether it might add turbulence on an intake but I think I will mount it solid side out. Will try to test it.

Unclear how I'm supposed to mount this. Currently held to the fan with two opposing screws and to the case with the other two screws. Doesn't sit flat.

Nice design, prints flawlessly. Hole pattern should be 105mm, actual is 106mm—> so scaled the model down. The holes are a bit on smaller side but still works.

Printed well but doesnt fit. The screw hole distance is 106mm while the official spec of 120mm fans is 105mm (+- 0.3mm)
