Description

Syringe Extender for 2 ml Plastic Syringes – Veterinary Use

This 3D‑printed syringe extender was designed for Stichting AAP in the Netherlands to assist with safe and effective animal care. In certain situations, veterinarians and animal handlers need extra distance when administering injections — for both their safety and the animal’s comfort.

The extender increases reach by approximately 17 cm, allowing injections to be given from a safer distance. It is compatible with 2 ml plastic syringes (not glass), which snap securely into place thanks to the slight flexibility of the syringe body.

If you are a non profit animal care organization in The Netherlands and do not have the option to print these yourself, please reach out to me, and I will print them for you at no cost (just shipping or free pick up in Almere)

Key Features:

  • Extended reach: Adds ~17 cm between handler and animal.
  • Secure fit: Syringe clicks into place for stability during use.
  • Plunger holder: Small rubber‑band‑secured part keeps the plunger steady and prevents rattling.
  • Easy removal: Syringe can be removed by hand or with the included extraction tool.

How to Use:

  1. Position the syringe with one “wing” facing downward into the open slot.
  2. Press firmly until it clicks into place.
  3. Insert the long plunger rod into the back of the extender and operate as normal.
  4. To remove, either pull out by hand or place the syringe holder over the extraction tool and press down — the syringe will pop free.

A demonstration video is available here: https://youtu.be/98X4l95LB6k (video shows an earlier version without the plunger holder, but the usage is the same).

This tool is ideal for veterinarians, wildlife rescuers, and zoo staff who need a practical, reusable, and safe way to administer injections from a distance.
