Description

A very quickly made adaptor to allow a new lamp shade with a larger diameter ring to be fitted to a lamp base with a smaller diameter rest.

Old lamp shade ring 40mm outer diameter, inner hole 28.6mm

New lamp shade ring 60.5mm outer diameter, inner hole 42.8mm, plus a raised ridge and cross supports.

The quick fix was print a couple of rings to bridge the different sizes and sandwich the frame of the new lamp shade between the rings. I added some recessed to accommodate raised support structures of the new lamp shade.

I only printed in PLA, minimal thickness - due to limited weight to be supported. LED in the lamp so minimal heat generated (I would not recommend using with incandescent globe).

I am very new to 3D printing and used Tinkercad to create the (rings) stl file; watching a short tutorial to find out how to merge shapes, convert shapes to holes and group into a single object. (Quite enjoyable to “tinker”).
