Description

WARNING: allow the print to fully cool before removing it from the bed. The delicate string bridges are essential to the illusion and can be damaged if handled too soon. Most well-calibrated printers, like Bambu models, will print it effortlessly, though less calibrated setups might face challenges.

Showcase the marvel of structural equilibrium and tensile forces with this incredible tensegrity table! The design uses carefully balanced string bridges under tension to create the illusion of a floating table, demonstrating the perfect interplay between tension and compression. It’s not just a model—it’s a conversation piece that highlights the beauty of physics in action.

Amazing print!!!! Fantastic design and quality, if I could give it 6 stars, I would! Supports came off very easily, no pressure needed. Definitely would print again if needed, thank you for your work :) (in the image I took off the supports and put it back on the plate just for the photo)

Support Issue:I used hybrid trees attached to the bed and w/ PVA to link the PLA trees to the PLA model. All of those stuck together really well :-/ lol
Strength Issue:I am a newbie so user error is a factor. The layers did not adhere together well. The model split apart at several points. Sometimes there were loose lines of filament laying together only attached at the far ends. Hints, please? After I got all of the supports off I decided to reassemble it and use CA glue with catalyst spray to hold the layers together. :)

I will definitely be trying this again. This is one of my favorite examples of the tensegrity “table” and I’d really like to be able to have a good copy. For now I’m going to be amused by my wonky version.

if you have a bambu printer check what bed plate you have selected and make sure the selected filament is correctvin the slicer

hi. thanks for responding. I am using Mac, Bambu Studio, A1 mini, AMS Lite, Bambu PLA black matte and Bambu PVA support. My software and firmware are all updated and my maintenance was completed yesterday. (I have had successful prints since the maintenance routine, so that isn’t the problem lol) Yes, the plate is correct (and freshly washed) and the filament was selected via the AMS Lite and NFC tags. I have yet to venture much beyond those. I haven’t even unpacked the other plates. Bambu Studio had the correct information. I don’t yet know how to use the benchmark prints to fine tune my prints, but I have successfully printed quite a few models with this Bambu Black Matte PLA. More than half of places where the tensegrity strings attached look great. If I can get the layer adhesion issue resolved I think it will print perfectly. I just don’t know what to tweak to make layers stickier, if there are isolated steps to take to do so. I might try taking out the decorative ledges on the frame to reduce the number of overhangs.
