Description

Simple wall mounted paper towel holder for rolls up to 280mm wide (standard 11"). Prints on a single plate, model is split into two pieces due to build plate height limitations. Pieces connect using square connector included in model. Can be mounted horizontally or vertically.

I mounted it horizontally on our kitchen cabinets using double sided mounting tape linked below to avoid screw holes. It's quite sturdy as is, however it would be easy to add screw holes if you'd rather mount it that way. Printed in black PLA with 15% infill density, 3 wall loops, and monotonic infill, on standard textured PEI build plate. No supports needed, printed and assembled perfectly, no signs of any weakness or stress points. If anyone has any issues, comment here and I'll fix it.

This is adapted from Diogo Resende's IKEA Skadis Paper Towel Holder using T-Clips. Dimensions have been changed to accommodate a wider roll, end cap style changed, and mounting changed to flat wall mount, cut with connectors to fit built volume limitations. Edits are done directly in Bambu Studio, nonetheless, the final product is quite nice.

Anyone knows the cause of the quality issue? I printed with x2d using pla basic, no change in settings. Thank you!

Looks like your nozzle has a partial clog.

very loose, i think it needs better connection for two parts. not as strong connection as I hoped for

Since it's covered up by the paper towel roll it didn't need to visually tight. I superglued this together on mine, the joint is intended to give extra contact area for the glue while still having tolerances lenient enough for a variety of 3D printers with varying degrees of accuracy.

Exactly what I was looking for to free up some counterspace without putting holes in my cabinet. Even mega rolls of paper towels (e.g. Kirkland’s) fit. Thanks for sharing the model. Printed quickly (on Overture Easy PLA white) and does the job well :)

Printed with Sunlu PETG on the P2S. Added holes to screw into wall. Uploaded print profile with the holes that can be sized to anyone’s needs.

We've bene using this for a few months and it's pretty good. I think the end piece should be a touch smaller, it's kind of difficult to get the cardboard roll over it sometimes. The other thing, and it could be how I mounted it (under cabinet using VHB tape), but it looks like it's sagging or slightly crooked. Again, maybe it's how I mounted it though.

Thank you for the feedback! - In hindsight I agree that the end piece could have been smaller. - As for the sagging. Do you know if it's the model that's sagging or the double sided tape for mounting it? What material did you print it in? Is it near a window (eg sunlight)? The intention was to maximize the surface area available for the double sided tape.

How does the square peg hold? I feel like both the square peg and the receiving hole should be a little deeper. maybe not by much but I would feel better.

In my experience, it's been holding quite well for the past year. It was intended to give greater surface area to superglue the two pieces together and avoid stripping the hole. I wasn't too concerned about how the joint looks considering it's covered up by the paper towel roll.
