Print Profile(7)

Description
NEWS:
“13-04-2025” The eccentric drive has been completely revised and is now included in the official V.1.2 version. Users still possessing V.1.0 with or without the gearbox update can download the eccentric drive update from the print profile overview.
“29-03-2025” The E-DRIVE Mod for the Spoolhelper EDS filament is released. Now the spool helper can be inexpensively powered by a powerful 200 rpm worm gear motor.
“22-03-2025” The gearbox update is now available in the print profile overview. Spoolhelper V 1.0 will soon become V 1.2.
Spoolhelper V 1.0 owners can download the gearbox update and will thus be up to date.
What is it:

Several aids already exist for rewinding filament from one spool to another. I enthusiastically used these, rewinding several kilograms of filament… until the day a colleague looked at the machines and had the idea of using them to rewind power cables as well… I quickly realized that the machine’s requirements when using cables demanded considerable resilience. Unfortunately, the existing machines were not up to these demands. The inverse wave was too prone to malfunctioning and its function often problematic. Main shaft connections to the spool holder were too weakly constructed. Crank & drive connection prone to breakage under stronger turning. After a long search for an alternative, a brilliant idea struck me: An “eccentric tool drive system.”
Thus began the development of the Spool-Helper (EDS). Its mechanical design is somewhat more elaborate, but it offers 100% reliable functionality… Shafts & connecting pieces are designed to be robust enough for the heavy demands.

The Spoolhelper (EDS) is, to date, the only filament winder that works with an eccentric drive.

To compensate for the spool offset of various spools, the filament support can be individually adjusted in its end position.
The Filament Spool-Helper EDS can accommodate many different spool sizes with the multi-adapter.

Developing and testing this machine has been a challenging endeavor. I spent the last three months testing, improving, redesigning, and often burning the midnight oil.
