Description

This is a highly optimized version of the Automatic Canadian Coin Sorter, a design that has been remixed extensively on Printables. It's capable of automatically sorting Canadian coins (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, loonies, and toonies) into individual compartments.

Whether you're a coin collector, a small business owner, or just someone who loves practical 3D prints, this automatic coin sorter is the perfect addition to your collection!

Key Features:

  • Improved Printability: Optimal print
  • Better Coin Accuracy: Adjustments to the sorting mechanism for more precise separation of Canadian coins, even with minor wear or inconsistencies in size.
  • Compact and Efficient Design: Parts that snap together easily, requiring minimal assembly.
  • Enhanced Durability: Strengthened areas prone to wear and tear for longer-lasting performance.

Why This Version?

Building on the incredible work of the community, I’ve re-optimized this design for faster, smoother prints and effortless assembly. This version is uploaded directly to MakerWorld for ease of access.

I printed it and it came out great. Some minor enhancements can be done to perfect it. A] If you look at the picture, the slope of the cut is not the exact same gradient as the slide (see picture with blue dotted lines). Because of this inconsistent gradient, there is a gap of air that shouldn't be there. It allows the coins to slip between that gap into the next column. One of the printers mentioned they used a file to fix it. B] From the top down picture, it shows that the coin column wall is protruding 2+ mm into the drop hole for each coin, causing blockage and skipping into the next hole. This can be fixed if the hole can be aligned with the back wall. I can probably glue this somehow to the top slide to fix this. C] As per other user mentioned, not all $2 coins were able to fit well. So, another 1mm to the radius, should fix this.

Not really usable me. I appreciate anybody who takes time to work on a model and upload it so thank you for that. 1) you need to feed coins one by one, which is obvious now but I didn't realize until I tried it 2) coins frequently fall in the wrong slot so they need to be resorted manually 3) Some coins will bounce out of the slots and spill on the table/floor 4) not faster than dumping the coins on a table and just manually sorting them. A fun toy I guess but not practical

Works well for the most part, the extra row for twoonies is an interesting design choice. One of the two rows for the twoonies did not work well. The twoonies would get stuck in the hole going down.

none of the holes seem to fit the coins, they just get hung up right over the hole. I dremelled out the holes and it works better but still not really usable.
