Print Instructions & Recommendations
It is highly recommended to clean the build plate with warm water and soap prior to printing to eliminate the potential adhesion problems.
Support is only required for the caps. The rest of the model can easily be printed without supports.
The folding mechanism relies on the 45° angles of the hexagonal shape, relatively thinner joints and flexibility (or ductility) of PLA. It is highly resistant to inward folds –so rest assured–, however, avoid excessive outward folding. For optimal foldability, ensure the board is printed with at least 2 Walls.
This chess set has been printed many times using only PLA Basic. Therefore, it is recommended to use basic PLA since other types of filaments -even PLA blends like PLA-CF- might be brittle for optimal functionality.
Assembly Instructions
Assembly requires no additional tools or materials. It is a simple print and play model. The caps securely hold the board and the pieces together.
One additional step is required only for No-AMS versions where the board tiles should be inserted onto the board. Since each tile can be installed and removed easily, this version is customizable to your liking.
To set up the chessboard, just remove the caps, unfold the board slightly outward until it lies perfectly flat. Place the pieces, and chess all the way!
