Key Features:

Mid-Century Inspired Elegance

With its smooth curves, minimalist design, and functional symmetry, the Cashew Canoe pays homage to iconic mid-century aesthetics while offering a contemporary twist. The dual bowls are perfect for serving snacks—separate treats or use one side for shells—keeping everything organized and accessible.

Smart Assembly Options

While the handle can be glued to the tray for a simple assembly, the Cashew Canoe is designed for a more professional approach:

Heat-Threaded Inserts: The tray features recesses for M3 threaded inserts, which can be securely sunk using a standard soldering iron. This ensures a durable, reusable connection.

M3x10 Hex Screws: The handle attaches with standard hex screws, threading into the inserts for a precise, flush finish. This allows for easy disassembly when needed.

Rustic Twine-Wrapped Handle

Adding a tactile, handcrafted touch, the handle is wrapped in natural twine, secured with a small dab of super glue to prevent unraveling. The wrapping process ensures a snug, even fit, providing both a comfortable grip and a warm, rustic accent to the modern design.

3D-Printed Excellence

The Cashew Canoe is designed to be printed on a single plate, compatible with popular 3D printers like the Bambu Lab A1, P1S, P1P, and X1C. Its clever layout maximizes efficiency while ensuring an accurate, polished print. Best results can be achieved using PLA wood filament for a rich, natural look that complements the piece’s mid-century roots.

Why It Stands Out:

The Cashew Canoe is more than a serving dish—it’s a fusion of past and present, celebrating mid-century artistry with the versatility and precision of modern 3D printing. Whether displayed on a table or passed around at gatherings, its thoughtful details—like the twine-wrapped handle and modular assembly—make it a centerpiece of both form and function.

Bring timeless design into your modern home with the Cashew Canoe, a handcrafted yet technologically advanced piece that truly elevates the snack experience.

Food Safety Guidelines

3D Printing Materials: Use a food-safe PLA, such as PLA Wood, for the Cashew Canoe if it will come into direct contact with food. Avoid materials that are not labeled food-safe.

Finish and Care:

• For best results, sand and seal the tray using a food-safe sealant or finishing solution to create a smooth, non-porous surface that resists bacteria and moisture.

• Avoid exposing the Cashew Canoe to high heat (e.g., dishwashers or microwaves), as it may warp or degrade the material.

Twine and Glue: Keep the twine handle away from the food, and don't wash this part (obviously).

Cleaning Instructions: Hand wash the Cashew Canoe crators with warm, soapy water. Do not submerge.

Screw-and-Insert Assembly (Recommended)

Although you can just glue the handle on, or screw M3 screws right into the plastic tray mounts, i recommend using M3 heat set inserts. This is a real easy process which only requires a soldering iron.

Insert the Heat-Threaded Inserts:

• Preheat your soldering iron to a suitable temperature (around 200-220°C for most inserts).

• Align the heat-threaded insert with the recessed hole in the tray.

• Using the soldering iron, gently press the insert into the recess, ensuring it sinks flush with the surface. Let it cool before proceeding.

• Repeat for the second hole.

Wrap the Handle with Twine (Optional):

• If you’re wrapping the handle with twine, do so before attaching it.

• Start at one end, wrapping the twine tightly around the handle.

• Secure the ends with a small dab of super glue, and trim excess twine for a clean finish.

Attach the Handle to the Tray:

• Align the handle posts with the tray’s threaded insert holes.

• Insert an M3x10 hex screw into each post and tighten with a hex driver or Allen key until snug.

• Avoid overtightening, as this could damage the inserts or handle.

Care and Maintenance

• For a polished look, clean the Cashew Canoe with a damp cloth. Do not submerge in water.

• If you need to disassemble the handle, simply unscrew the hex screws.

With these instructions, your Cashew Canoe will be ready for use, providing both style and functionality for years to come.
