Summary

This is a 1:8 or 1:12 (you pick) scale model of the legendary AIM-9X Sidewinder heat seeking missile. Make sure you choose the print profile for the size you want – 1:8 is around a 18 inches and 1:12 is around 1 foot tall. This is a much more detailed model than my previous AIM-9X. I will soon also be releasing two more US air-to-air missiles in high detail including the AIM-120 and with the same scales so you can make them match.

This model snaps together for easy assembly, no glue is required.

Bambu Filaments used were:

  • Basic Light Gray
  • Matte Brown
  • Matte Yellow
  • Basic Dark Gray
  • Hatchbox Chrome Metallic for the shiny bits (Amazon Link)

Thanks for the boost 🙂 Wow that's really impressive, thanks for sharing photos -- looks like it'll be really cool once it's done. The real thing is so huge it's like a telephone pole at 5 in in diameter, so that's impressive to do it full size.

Looks like perhaps the printer needs to be calibrated or the bands that move the extruder head are loose since it appears that the x/y precision is off.

If you run into more trouble, the r/3dprinting subreddit would be a great place to post a picture and a description of your printer, they have been a huge help to me in the past to diagnose issues with certain prints.

Awesome print. (Seems I misplaced one of the fins on the large one) Small one was a pain due to the size but came together in the end (1/3 scale) Thank you for RexiLabs for posting so many great models!

Fantastic model, turned out great! I made a different stand to hold it at an angle, but I love the included stand as well. Thank you for uploading such a high-quality model.

Came out great! Wondering about how to make a rail so I can mount it on my RC planes

The mounting brackets on the missile were only intended for show, but that being said I think they would probably be somewhat robust enough to be hung on some sort of rack. It would need to be a rack with a kind of triangular cavity in it probably
