Kunming No. 1 High School, abbreviated as "Kun Yi Zhong," is a top-tier senior high school in Yunnan Province, an outstanding school in terms of education and teaching quality, an advanced unit in the national education system, and a national demonstration school for Olympic education.
Kunming No. 1 High School's predecessor was Yunnan Provincial Capital Middle School, established in 1905 after the reform and renaming of Fei Jing Zheng Shu Yuan. In February 1912, the two-level normal school affiliated middle school, higher school, and the first model middle school merged and were renamed "Yunnan Provincial First Middle School." In 1932, Yunnan Provincial First Middle School merged with Yunnan Provincial Fifth Middle School (formerly the private Chengde Middle School), and was renamed "Yunnan Provincial Kunhua Middle School." In 1950, Kunhua Middle School merged with Longyuan Middle School and was renamed "Yunnan Provincial Kunming First Middle School." In 1984, it was officially named "Kunming No. 1 High School."
