3D Printed bookshelf speakers featuring Aiyima 3" full range drivers.

*If you are interested in 3d printed speakers, I have a number of designs in the works right now that I will be publishing shortly. I found a couple of 4" full range drivers that I have been getting incredible results with (Mark Audio CHR-70 and Pluvio 7 HD) and I am quickly becoming partial to the designs based on these drivers. I will have some ported and passive radiator designs to share soon.

I'm also working on a modular system with a 5.5" high excursion subwoofer that has side attachments for different types of full range speakers. Stay tuned!

I wasn't able to obtain the Thiel Small parameters for these drivers so the enclosure volume and port specifications are based on an example drawing provided by Aiyima.

I was pleasantly surprised by the flat response and wide frequency range on these. They hit surprisingly low for the size, yet still have crisp highs into the 20khz range.

I had to do a small amount of trimming around the mounting holes since the measurements on the product page were not accurate for the version I bought. (they have a more rounded version that is likely what the 2d drawing referenced)

*If you would prefer to not have to do any cutting, please let me know and I can increase the size of the opening and mounting rings.

The mounting holes for the driver are 5.2mm in diameter and 6mm in depth and were designed to be used with m3 heat set inserts linked below, but they should work with similar inserts as well.

I am in the process of taking some measurements along with some trial and error with different amounts of polyfill and damping material. I will provide updates once I determine the best damping material. I am using REW + Equalizer APO + Peace for measurements and tuning.

A friend of mine is using these speakers with the Shure AA-AB32155 amp module and he designed a nice enclosure for it:
