Description

There are many solutions to the problem and danger of using a table saw fence when crosscutting. Some just clamp a small block on the fence to prevent the crosscut from binding against the fence and the blade and that works. However, in my opinion it does not provide enough room between the crosscut board and the fence should the board become cocked sideways the least little bit.

My design is based on the Matchfit Dado Stop minus the dado feature. The length of the stop block is a precise 3” well almost precise + 0.0025 and I can live with that. Because it is a 3D printed part your results for length may vary. I used Elegoo Rapid PLA+ and used the default Bambu PLA settings.

Another use for this stop block (with the saw unplugged) is to place it between a tooth on the blade and the fence. As the block is just touching a saw tooth and up against the fence you will know that your fence is exactly 3” from the blade and you can adjust the sight glass on the fence scale. This feature is helpful when changing blades that have different kerf widths and will help your crosscuts be more precise.

  • Looking at the movable portion of the clamp you will notice that the interior that slides over the bar has a draft/angled so that under tension it will be perpendicular to the bar.  On the end of the movable part, you will see an arrow.  The arrow should point towards the dovetail end of the bar.
  • To assemble the clamp insert the wedge prior to installing the movable portion on the bar.  Position it with the narrow end of the wedge towards the dovetail end.  Pushing on the wedge will tighten the movable end.  Remember this thing is plastic and not overly strong but it doesn’t take much force to hold the stop block in place.
