Description

What this is.

Heavy duty holder designed for Gorilla Glue bottles (designed to fit both 18oz and 8oz bottles). This also doubles as a cupholder for drinks bottles, fountain pen ink or printer ink bottles, or even smaller spray paint cans. The opening diameter is 2.75" (~7 cm) so measure whatever you're trying to print this for if it is anything other than the Gorilla Glue bottles. But yes, it fits a beer bottle šŸ™‚

Why we made this.

I looked around MakerWorld and didn't see anything Gorilla Glue bottle holders beyond the little, tiny bottles. So I made one myself and these bottles are heavy. Unlike many of the cupholders I managed to find, I designed a third Skadis connection on a different level to do two things: 1) maintain a low center of gravity so it doesn't tip over because glue all over the place is…disastrous ; 2) relieve some of the vertical stress on just two hooks.

How to print this.

After testing this print countless times, I have some tips for you to get a successful print. I recommend

  • Print with the Skadis connection hooks facing you (and/or the glass door). This allows you to more carefully see the hooks as you remove the print off the plate. Please be careful not to rip the hooks off as the lateral/sheer force is highly leveraged with the long supports from the base plate. Therefore, I DO NOT recommend rotating or pushing sideways to get the print off the plate.
  • When removing the print off the plate, carefully use a scrapper to unsecure the ā€œtree trunkā€ first - I made sure there is only one trunk so that it minimizes the contact patch and therefore minimizing risk to ripping the hooks off. Then, use the scrapper to carefully get the edges of the cylinder.
  • If any tilting is required, tilt towards you and not sideways, but only after the tree trunk is no longer attach to the plate. If you made it this far, thanks for reading! Once you carefully taking the print and supports off the base, the supports should come off very, very easily from the print.

Boost Me (for free)

I love making new models usually to fix up things around the house, workshop or garage. If you like what I do, check out other things in my portfolio or consider giving me a free boost. It would really help me out to get some subsidized filaments so I can keep testing and making new models like this one. Thank you in advance!
