Description

There's a lot of these out there, but I didn't quite like any of them completely. This is my take on the “John McClane crawling through the ducts of Nakatomi Plaza from Die Hard” ornament. General improvements include some duct score marks along the walls, being slightly thinner than most of the others out there (prints faster with less material), and a center-of-mass support-free hanging loop built in a strong orientation.

The model has a 5.2mm hole for a tree light to pass through built in, since 5mm seems to be the standard light dimension. In the slicer a negative cylinder is positioned over this hole so you can increase it's size if needed, as seen below where I discovered my lights are actually 5.6mm. Trust your calipers 😅

The negative object hole in the print profile is sized to 5.6mm! If you need it smaller you'll need to adjust this!

You can make this hole larger by selecting the “Light Hole” object, then the scale tool, and then changing the X/Y dimensions up to however large you require.

On paper, print the Duct image (backup link) at exactly 100mm wide, cut it out, and glue it inside the print.

A thin layer of school glue brushed around on the inside will prevent the paper from bubbling up. In my picture I had used Tacky Glue and it was less pretty than the next couple I made to give to friends.
