Retro Riddle Box: Classic Mystery Container!

The Retro Riddle Box—a delightful homage to a classic gaming icon, inspired by the famous question box from your favorite retro video games. This model captures the essence of mystery and fun, perfect for any gamer’s collection or as a unique decorative piece. Suitable as a gift-giving box for small items that can be stuffed inside. Roughly 110 mm cubed, so it prints on an A1 Mini !

I put this into the Christmas contest because I remember getting video games for X-mas as a kid fondly.  Hopefully this makes some kid happy!

Design:

• Appearance: The Retro Riddle Box is a vibrant yellow cube adorned with the iconic question marks (?) on its sides, reminiscent of the in-game original. The box features a removable cap with friction fit lips, making it useful for storage. You can also put an LED lamp inside to have it glow.  I provide versions with and without the “rivet marks” found on the classic.  I printed the version without, as I slightly prefer it, but I understand many people will want then.
• Dimensions: 110 mm cubed by default. Compact and charming, the Retro Riddle Box is designed to be a perfect desktop companion or a playful addition to your gaming shrine.

Assembly Options:

• Separate Parts: For those without an AMS (Automatic Material Switching) setup, the Retro Riddle Box is designed to be printed in separate parts and easily assembled using standard glue. Each piece is designed to fit into the question mark depression in the box, ensuring a smooth assembly process.
  • You could also opt not to print the question mark white pieces at all, and you will still get the imprint of the question mark on the main box, which could look nice if lit from the inside.
• Multicolor Printing: If you have a multicolor 3D printer setup, you can print the main Retro Riddle Box in its full, vibrant glory in one go (and then the cap separately). However, be aware that this is a bit wasteful and slow because of all the color switches required. Even though I have an AMS I chose to print separately and assemble by hand.
