Assembly Instructions

• Assembly requires 40 magnets, sized 8x2mm.

• For frame and lid, install the magnets in a way that ensures all corners have their (+) and (-) sides facing the same direction. This alignment is crucial so that the lid can attach to the frame properly from any direction. If the polarity is inconsistent, the lid will only fit in a specific orientation.

• The same rule applies for the board pieces as well, however, to make things less complicated, boards are signed with numbers as shown below. Once the magnets are installed, assembling the board becomes much easier; simply align the numbered pieces without needing to test their polarity manually. There are also little arrows next to each number, pointing the location of the board piece.

  

  

   

• Each board in the featured photos have 4 magnet slots (2 on each inner edge). However, after testing it for a while, it was found that using a total of 8 magnets per board piece improves stability during gameplay. This adjustment ensures a more secure assembly and better resistance to movement while playing. Thus, the boards in the published model files have 8 magnet slots.
• There are two gifs provided in the documentation to show board setup and re-assembling.
• For the No-AMS versions, push the tiles into the dedicated slots to lock them in. Depending on the printer calibration and filament preference, the fitment may vary. The assembly for these versions does not require additional materials, however, a little glue always helps if you need it, and it is highly recommended!
• There is also another version of this chest that is included inside a separate file that requires no magnets, instead, it sort of snaps to keep everything together. However, I personally recommend using magnets for the best experience. You can find the models for the magnet-free design under the file “Chest of Chess Snap-on Version”. Remember to print each board piece twice for this version. Please note that the “layout” piece in this version is designed to hold the board pieces together a bit loosely, rather than providing a tight, snap-fit connection. Its purpose is to keep the board sections aligned and prevent them from separating.
