Description

Ornamental Christmas Baubles

You can either print with supports or if you prefer there's also another profile where the ball is cut in half so you don't need supports and you can glue them.

Both worked fine for me. Depends on your preference.

I used DIY rub and buff to get the gold/copper/color shift effect.

Feel free to share your print, I'd love to see how that looked with different filaments :)

This printed great! I used the model with supports so I could print with my Tri-Color Gold, Silver, Copper filament. I'm thinking about painting the ball black while leaving the design bare to make it look similar to the original. update: I painted the black on and if you value your sanity I suggest not doing the same. I ended up painting whole sections black, wiping away the excess with a paper towel, then rubbing the highspots with my fingers to remove the black. Looks great though in the end!

That looks great!! But omg I can imagine the patience you need to paint that 😂. Well done! I also suggest trying rub n buff. It is super easy and fast to paint those type of details. Thanks for sharing your results! :-)

Once I gave up on carefully painting I just slathered it in and wiped off the excess. Did you print yours in black and then use a metallic rub and buff?

Yes, that's exactly what I did. I printed in black but also airbrushed with primer before applying the rub n buff

This turned out as good as the one with supports. I like the Bambu Silk PLA so i used it again. Thank you.
