Description

The Star Trek The Next Generation datapad is perfect for cosplay or as a desk ornament. Simple design and easy to assemble. Space inside to fit a LED strip around the screen area (ideally 3mm to 5mm) and also a small CR2032 battery holder (see BOM for more details).

The image for the screen I found online using Google and were printed on some thin high gloss photo paper. If you wish to use the same image I have included it here:

Print dimensions 130mm x 88mm

Here is a short demo of the screen being lit up:

Great print. I like how the photo/screen fits in behind the frame. Flush mounting might look better but this method allows some room to adjust the image without a lot of fuss. Is there a way to add buttons that fit into the 2 lower holes? I think having backlit physical buttons would add to the overall look.

I have now added a separate print profile for the physical buttons. Obviously you can change the colours to suit your preference. Hope this is what you were after. :) I will be doing a revision of the Datapad soon, a 2.0 version of sorts where the physical buttons and a screen that is more flush with the face of the pad will be incorporated.

A magnificent model, a guaranteed hit as a gift for Trekkies. Even achievable for individuals with very rudimentary knowledge of electrical engineering.

FANTASTIC & great looking design/print! its simplicity works and it printed flawlessly. now just searching for a screen image I like to put in the PADD along with a few LED’s and maybe even a sound board. Excited for the end results. Thanks and can’t wait to see new printable from you! I’ll BOOST this print… 😁👍🏼🤬
