Description

Made this feeding port for my chickens, it has worked a treat. However, I noticed that we had some little visitors who also liked the chicken feed. So I went into solid works and made a cap that would screw onto the front of the cover and stop any visitors helping themselves to the food through the night.

It has worked beautifully and I have made a total of 8 of these as I'm putting them in a plastic bin with a lid so I can cut down on the refilling times, not too sure on bin size but it holds 4 x 20kg bags of layers pellets. Which I top up every month or so, however if I leave it to run out, it takes 15 hens about 4 months to get through 80% of the bin, during summer and while free ranging around the garden.

Really made a difference in the smaller test container I used, less waste of food from knocking over the food container, less waste from contamination from scratching. All round great little stress reliever for me lol.

Hope it helps someone, feel free to use, remix ect

Glad you like it. I've used the 50% on my bantam chickens and it works well.

This is awesome for my backyard coop we started this summer. Waiting for one of my new 4 pullets to figure out how to use it and see how they like it. Thank you for sharing this print.

Did you know you cut out the front lip that keeps the food from being pulled out?

I didn't realise. I've not noticed much spill from my hens. I appreciate the feed back though, thank you.

Hi, good question. I printed in a vertical position and I used tree supports for the spout collar and the opening of the internal section, the threads didn't need supports. I printed a couple on my Sidewinder X1 using these supports and it worked out pretty good. Thanks for the comment, Happy printing.
