Greetings everyone, I present to you this delightful race car featuring a wind-up spring mechanism

It is 100% 3D printable, and will perform optimally with TPU tires and a PETG spring, though fully printing in PLA remains an option. A comprehensive, illustrated assembly guide is included and essential for construction

This is the perfect print for a collaborative project with children, or as a gift—either as an assembly kit for older children, or pre-assembled for younger ones. Let the competition begin!

Enjoy!

(A dedicated print bed is provided for printing rims and tires in PLA or TPU for AMS)

One of the most beautiful models here. Assembly guide is perfect, i was just confused regarding the long transmission and what difference would that made. Oh, and it really works! boosted 2x

Thank you for your encouragement, the long transmission allows for a longer distance but the acceleration is smoother

Hello, the assembly looks clean Does your spring remain compressed and the wheels not turn If so there could be several reasons - the spring is not pushed far enough onto its axle which blocks the gears on the same axle They must all have play and be free - The wheel axles do not turn correctly to check this you can roll the car on the ground forwards you should hear the clicking sound of the freewheel - The freewheel is mounted backwards when you turn the knob to wind the spring it releases the force without turning the wheels - print defect on a gear it causes a hard spot in the movement it turns a little and then locks - you can apply some lubricant and break it in by repeatedly operating the mechanism forcefully until everything is free If after checking these different points it still does not work contact me again I will help you

The side is not properly seated (see photo top left) it may rub on the wheel The spring is not pushed in far enough on its axle which prevents the subsequent gears from turning freely

If you like this model, feel free to check out the 4x4 van, it's a bit more complex to print but assembly remains simple: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1463145-vw-combi-van-spring-powered-car-mini-bus#profileId-1525903

Great model! I used PETG for the gears and shafts, PLA for the rest, there is really not enough traction on the wheel because I did not make them out of TPU, a lot of fun!

Thank you very much for the feedback and the photo, to improve adhesion you can use TPU from 60A to 85A or pieces of bicycle inner tube

Great concept - I didn't assemble it as I made this as a gift for a young lad for Christmas. I think his father will need to help put it together, but I will print the PDF and include it. Printed with no issues. Printed the spring in PETG, and the rest in PLA. I used red and green, Christmas colours, except the white stripe and black spring.

Printed with Polyterra PLA Filament. One of my favorite model of all the things i have printed. I will need to make some of the Performance Improvement as it is working but not making any significant distances. I had a hard time to put the tire on each wheel. I used the hammer. It did took some Filament of the wheel but it is holding well. I also didn't figured out where to put the 10th Washer. Keep up the good work.

Thank you very much for these beautiful photos, these stars, and this Boost Don't worry if you have washers left over, I always include a few extra For the tires, it's best to print them in a flexible material, TPU 60A is ideal, but 85A works well too For distance, you have the option to print a long gear ratio which will allow you to cover a greater distance at the expense of acceleration Feel free to check out my other spring car models; you'll find a wide selection, including highly performant ones like the GMC van (4-wheel drive, large spring, and two differentials) or very technical ones like the Hotrods (where the spring propels the car and drives a V8) Happy printing
