Print Profile(1)

Description
The Aircraft
Mitsubishi Ki-21 "Sally"
Development Background: Mitsubishi developed the Ki-21 as part of a program to modernize the Imperial Japanese Army’s bomber fleet in the late 1930s. Designed for long-range bombing missions, the Ki-21 saw extensive use across China and the Pacific, particularly during Japan’s initial expansions.
Interesting Facts:
- The Ki-21 had the ability to fly long distances, which made it well-suited for the vast reaches of the Pacific Theater.
- Its early models had limited defensive armament, making it highly vulnerable to Allied fighters.
- By the end of the war, it was largely used in secondary roles, including kamikaze missions, due to its increasing vulnerability to Allied fighter aircraft.
