3D Print: Matcha Whisk Holder

The Matcha Whisk Holder is designed to store and dry a traditional bamboo whisk (chasen) used for preparing matcha tea. Its functional design ensures the longevity of the whisk by maintaining its shape and promoting proper drying. This holder is a must-have accessory for matcha enthusiasts, combining practicality with a touch of elegance.

Features

  1. Optimal Drying Design:
    • The open structure allows for excellent air circulation, preventing moisture buildup and ensuring the whisk dries quickly after use.
  2. Shape Preservation:
    • The holder cradles the whisk gently, helping maintain its natural curvature and preventing damage to its delicate tines.
  3. Compact and Elegant:
    • With its sleek and minimalist design, the holder fits seamlessly into any kitchen or tea setup, whether traditional or modern.
  4. Stable Base:
    • The wide base ensures stability, keeping the whisk upright and secure during drying and storage.
  5. Customizable Design:
    • The holder can be scaled in your slicer to accommodate larger or smaller whisk sizes.

Printing Instructions

  1. Material Recommendations:
    • PLA: Suitable for decorative purposes.
    • PETG or ABS: Recommended for durability and moisture resistance in humid environments.
  2. Print Settings:
    • Layer Height: 0.2 mm for a good balance between detail and speed.
    • Wall Thickness: 1.2 mm (3 perimeters).
    • Infill: 15–20% (Gyroid or Grid).
    • Supports: Only needed for the interior overhangs (optional depending on the design).
  3. Bed Adhesion:
    • Use a heated bed set to 50–60°C (PLA) or 70–90°C (PETG/ABS).
    • Add a brim or skirt if needed to improve stability during printing.

Usage Instructions

  1. After Use:
    • Rinse the matcha whisk under running water and shake off excess moisture.
    • Place the whisk upside down into the holder, ensuring it fits snugly without applying pressure to the tines.
  2. Storage:
    • Keep the holder in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight to preserve the quality of both the whisk and the holder.

Benefits

  • Prolongs the Lifespan: Helps prevent warping or cracking of the bamboo whisk.
  • Aesthetic Appeal: Adds a touch of sophistication to your tea-making ritual.
  • Convenient and Hygienic: Keeps the whisk organized and allows it to dry naturally.

The 3D-printed Matcha Whisk Holder is a practical, stylish, and thoughtful accessory for anyone passionate about matcha. Whether you’re a tea master or a beginner, this holder enhances your tea experience while caring for your tools.

Matcha Espresso

Prep Time

10 mins

Total Time

This matcha espresso drink is a refreshing blend of sweet iced coffee and creamy green tea!

Servings: 1 person

Calories: 199 kcal

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 ½ tablespoon espresso
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar or to taste
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 teaspoon matcha
  • 1 cup milk of your choice
  • ice to serve

Instructions

  1. Make 1 shot of espresso using ½ cup hot water and the espresso. I like using a Moka pot! Stir in the sugar and salt. Cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold.
  2. In a small bowl or cup, whisk the remaining ½ cup hot water with the matcha until dissolved. Make sure it's well combined, since you don't want a powdery drink. Cool to room temperature.
  3. Add some ice to a tall glass. Pour in the espresso, then milk, then matcha. If you'd like to layer the drink (rather than having it all it mix together immediately), hold a spoon tipped very slightly downward with the tip touching the side of the glass, pour the milk, then the matcha, into the spoon slowly. Add a straw if you'd like and serve cold.

Hello, I figured out what is causing the rough surface near the top. Because the walls get slightly thicker at that point, the printer has to compensate and the transition from 3 wall thickness to 4 causes a lot of stoppages and longer layer time, resulting in the messiness. If that could be fixed the model would be perfect :)

Nevermind, managed to fix it by increasing line width to 0.5mm, and changing order of walls to outer/inner!
