Hello,
for those that don't know my ‘insert philosophy’ - I am creating modular inserts that are focused on reducing setup and space on table, filament consumption is not my highest priority, but of course I'm trying to save some material where I can.
Update 02.06.2024 - version 2.0:
- major redesign, all files replaced with new ones. Old files are in Version 1 folder,
- 33 models resulting in 38 parts in old design vs 21 models resulting in 25 parts. Insert simplified by a lot, teardown should be a lot easier and faster,
- around 840g on my current settings needed for 1st version vs 680g for 2nd version. 160g lighter! That's a significant filament reduction,
- goods holders redesigned - now goods are taken out from the bottom and top, not from the sides. This should reduce needed table space and allow holders to be placed next to eachother. It has one “drawback” - goods in the middle are not very easy accessible, but I don't think this is a drawback, because goods are double sided,
- buildings are now in one holder - separate holders for each building type were overkill, they didn't help much in setup, teardown or during the game,
- deck holders combined with building holder - there is space here for 2 decks - weapon and occupation decks. You can put the holder sideways on the table (previously you will need to take out the buildings) and use it to organize cards,
- meeples combined with cards holder - there is a lot more space for cards and also meeples,
- new other_tokens_holder replacing mini_expansions_holder - small 1x1 good tokens are now in 1 compartment, but much larger one, so it's easier to take them out. There is also “shelf” for setup tokens from mini expansions, that can be taken out during the game,
- updated description and images.
I was pretty happy with the old design, but I wanted to reduce filament consuption and improve teardown, that's the reason of this update.
Important Notes:
- Clearence for holder covers is very small - 0.2mm horizontal. Please print the smallest holder and cover for it to check if it fits, if not you may need to calibrate printer or enlarge cover a bit (adding 0.2-0.4mm to the width in the slicer should be enough),
Supports:
- vertical storage,
- Norwegians expansion,
- 2 mini-expansion,
- should support metal coins if they're the same size as the cardboard ones,
- sleeves - this is mainly design for 70 microns sleeves (I use Sloyca), but there's plenty of space, I think 90 microns or even 110 could fit.
This insert features:
- 4 good holders - one giant one for first 6 columns of goods, one for the largest goods, one for goods from expansion and one for gray goods,
- resources holder - without compartments, but there is plenty of space, so it's easy to take needed resource,
- buildings, weapon cards holder - with separate space for occupation cards, so you can take it out of the box, take out the buildings and put the holder sideways, so it will serve as a holder for these cards during the game,
- coins, penalty things holder,
- ships holder,
- cards, meeples holder - you can store here all occupation cards and meeples.
Requirements:
- about 680g filament needed, (depends on your settings, I printed with 15% gyroid infill, 2 walls, 5 top and 3 bottom layers),
- at least 220mm x 152mm print bed.
Instructions:
Supports - no supports required.
- every file ended with xX (for example x16) - print X times (in given example - 16 times),
- refer to pictures how to organize the box,
- spacer, cards_divider - I printed it with 4 walls, no top, bottom, honeycomb infill.
What future holds:
- I think this insert is done, although there is some space left, so I may consider adding additional holder for gray goods.
Enjoy!
