Description
I created this 12" Muybridge Horse Lithophane Lamp for an art auction. A few other pieces are necessary to complete it:
- A top panel. I used a 12" black acrylic disk:
- A light source, with a bulb smaller than the 2" clearance of the lamp itself:
- and finally a wooden base. I used a plywood round because it was part of the prompt for the auction, but any 12" round will work
The 3d printed portion consists of 4 main elements:
- The lithophane panels themselves
- The base to hold up the wooden panel
- Spacers to fill in gaps between the panels
- columns to provide stability internally, printed and used as needed.
I had to use a 2" hole drill bit to make room for the light to be fitted through the base. The rest is put together with CA glue. The lithophanes themselves have the original numbers Muybridge put on the photos to indicate the correct order.
