------------------original description below----------------

I make Christmas ornaments each year to hand out to family and friends. There are many people that do not put up a tree, so I started making self standing ornaments. This year I found a nice looking ornament that printed in pieces and started on a remix. I wasn't happy with the quality and quirks. I made this design in solidworks from scratch and added some nice bonuses for everyone to enjoy. I wanted something quick to print that was easy and efficient, allowing me to hand out more ornaments this year.

  • Fully 3d printed
  • Tealight compatible. \
  • There is a flat inside the ornament. I use the 6 hour timer tealights off amazon. They are ~$1 each and each one lasts a month.
  • ornament has a flat spot on bottom. This will let you place it on a shelf or flat surface.
  • Hanging ring to put it on a tree. You can also add a string if you prefer.
    Changeable faceplates.
  • I started with 8x designs.
  • These are great to print with a holographic build sheet.
  • No supports.
    • side note, my bambu P1S leaves some defects that can easily be removed with needle nose pliers.
    • My MK4S prints it without issue.
  • No brim needed.
  • The 3mf file has the ornament bottom facing rear with seam set to rear on this part only.
  • ornament is only 26 grams by itself.
  • all pieces print fast
  • some faceplates have “24” engraved in center, for the 2024 xmas season.
  • 3mf file included with all parts. I also included separate step files.

The templates have teeth on the backside to grip the ornament. These teeth grip even if the ornament overhangs partially failed on uppermost layers.

My goal was to have this stay intact after a drop. That requirement makes the faceplates a little difficult to remove. I remove the faceplates by gently squeezing the ornament, causing the faceplate to lift up. From there, you can pry the faceplate off. The timer tealights will last a month, so it shouldn't need to be opened more than once a year. I expect most gift recipients to leave this as is and never open it up. I wanted something that can be stored with regular ornaments and be brought out in following years.

Each ornament uses 1x ornament sphere, 1x stem, 1x cap and 2x faceplates.

Looks great with or without a tealight, on a Christmas tree or on a desk. Enjoy.
