Los Angeles Class B Airspace
Print Profile(1)

Description
This is a scaled model, 1,000’ MSL to ½”, of the Los Angeles Class B Airspace as illustrated on the Los Angeles Sectional Chart. The model in the photo was printed utilizing Bambu Lab PLA Matte Marine Blue (11600) to correspond with the thick blue line designating Class B airspace on the sectional charts. This model was also printed with a layer height of 0.08mm, which is not needed, 0.2mm layer height is fine.
Model specifics:
The Los Angeles Class B Airspace descends from 10,000’ MSL downwards. The runways, for example, are contained in an area from 10,000’ MSL to the surface. The model necessitated a build downwards or negative extrusions. This is why the model appears upside down in the photo. The benefit of printing the model in this orientation is that no supports are required. I also printed the model on the Bambu Smooth PEI Plate to make it easier to attach the Los Angeles Sectional Chart on top of the model, see photo below.

Inspired by: Cory Carnahan, cardstock model of the Los Angeles Class B Airspace.
