Description

A shaker siphon is a one-way valve fit to the end of a hose. When you shake the fitting up and down in the water it pumps liquid into the hose and starts the siphon. This is much safer than sucking on a hose to start a siphon.

Three size options are provided.  ½" ID is compatible with ½" ID clear vinyl tubing or ½" garden hose. The 5/8" model is compatible with 5/8" ID hose, including most garden hoses.  There is also a version for 8mm ID tubing (This version is a remix uploaded by another MakerWorld user.)

Most materials work fine with water. PLA is not recommended as it will soften when exposed to solvents like gasoline. PETG is said to be safe with gasoline and solvents. Please research your filament choices to be sure it is a safe match for your intended use.

There is a moving part inside the fitting that should move freely after printing. It is printed in place with no supports. Shake the valve before each use to ensure that the inner part is moving freely.

How to use a Shaker Siphon:

Place the liquid container to be siphoned on an elevated surface. Place the end of the hose with the pump fitting into the liquid. Place the exhaust end of the hose in another container that is lower than the first container. Shake the siphon pump briskly up and down until the hose is filled with liquid and the siphon starts. Lift the fitting out of the liquid to stop the siphon.
