Description
This is a battery holder / caddy compatible with Makita 18v lithium batteries. I previously designed and published the 4-pack and 6-pack battery holders for DeWALT 20V Max and Milwaukee M18 batteries, and a lot of folks asked about one for Makita 18v batteries. So I got out the calipers and made them for Makita as well, rounding out the offerings.
The holder is “latching” meaning the battery latch engages and the batteries won't slide out. It is great for toting your batteries for work, caddying them to a remote location, or for general organization and protection. You can put them in a toolbox or tool bag and the batteries will not roll around or slide out and they will be protected from potentially shorting out due to small metal parts making contact with the terminals.
The bottom of the caddy extends below the battery so that the battery doesn't touch the ground or whatever surface you set them on.
I find the caddy very handy when taking my tools and batteries to the mountains to work on the cabin, construction site, etc. Also good for just holding batteries in the garage for organization, always ready to go when you need to grab multiple batteries for a job.
NOTE: If you are looking for a pretty close Makita-color PETG filament, try Paramount 3D “Mid Century Teal”. That's what I used to print the model in the photos.
Printing Notes
Please use the included “Designer” profile - it is all set up to print in strong PETG filament. It prints rather slowly because batteries are heavy, and I wanted to make sure to achieve the best layer adhesion I could get in a reasonable amount of time. Also, I use a lot of walls for strength, so it will hold up. Finally, do not omit the supports. The supports are super easy to remove using the profile as delivered. I used PETG for printing, and they come off very easy and the supported surfaces look very good - see photos.
