Description

This is a hold-open for the doors on a Costco plastic storage shed. I got tired of the wind blowing the door around when I needed to leave it open. This was scaled for a door bottom seven (7) inches above the adjacent ground level but will work for other heights based on where you mount it on the door. I temporarily assembled the leg to the mounting bracket with two M5 - 20mm bolts just screwed into the plastic. I will likely replace those with one M5 - 60mm bolt, washers and nut through the entire assembly. (I didn't have those on hand). I printed the leg and mounting bracket in PETG-CF and would think PETG is the best choice as this will be exposed to heat and sun. The foot is printed in TPU to give it a little more “bite” onto the surrounding pavers. This could be PETG or could probably be left off if you don't need the added length. The foot is a tight friction fit to the leg. It all prints without support. I attached the mounting bracket to the door with epoxy and two short wood screws to hold it while the glue went off. The mounting bracket has to attach to the shed before you attach the leg.

That 3D printed log is very realistic looking. LOL. Go to "Scale" and re-dimension the foot in Bambu slicer , stretch the Z axis (only) out however long you want it and print in hard filament, not TPU. It should be pretty stout even with the hole in it. May have to glue it on.

Updated to a single M5-60mm hex cap-bolt through the bracket with jam-nuts. Works smoothly and I believe it is much stronger this way.
