Greetings, this Gladius I found on Thingiverse is my favorite, as it respects the historical proportions of the Roman sword, although it may seem small, a Roman Gladius actually measured between 60 and 75 cm.

In the print profile, I have included several different hilts, as it is a bit small for today's human standards.

I have split the blade in two and inserted dowels; in the hilt I have also separated the central grip from the guard and pommel to allow for different colors. Along the entire length of the blade to the pommel, I have included a hole to insert a metal rod for reinforcement, but if you wish to close it, simply print a 5cm longer dowel from those available.

I love the design, and I've managed to print the hilt, the pommel, and the guard in black. I've been struggling with the two part blade. Twice I've tried to print it on my A1, using a cc3d generic silver silk filament, and default settings. both time it fails at 90%+. Can you please help and let me know what I'm doing wrong.

My apologies! However, it is crucial to properly set the filaments, perform the two calibrations, and adjust the bed temperature according to the ambient temperature

Thank you. I did the calibrations before all prints, and once I'm more experienced, I'll try making some more supports.

i think your filament isn6dry enough, you can see in the print how it slowly started to warp and this slis commonly do to the filament not being dried enough, specially if you have too many plans in your house, live in a humid area or have your printer near your laundry room or bathroom. It used to happened to me so I ended up changing taking my plants out of the studio. People don't talk enough about how PLA is affected by humidity as much as TPU. To dry the filament just leave it a couple of days in a zipploc bag along with some bags of desecant (literally all you need to do).

Printed well, removing the support from the tip section was easier than expected. I just need to fix up the joint in the blade but model printed well.

Beginners' comments and ratings are always so embarrassing!!!! Was the bed clean? Was the filament calibrated? Was the machine calibrated? Did you adjust the flows according to your printer!? In short, blame the designers for your incompetence!! Had you read the description, you would have seen that it was with historical measurements!!! A Roman was 150 cm tall! Learn to use Bambu Studio, so maybe your comments will be less embarrassing! Ratings should not be allowed for those below level 7, one should comment and rate at least from level 25!! It's ridiculous that a beginner rates the work of a professional!! I eagerly await your works!!!

other than some minor quality issues on the pommel and handle where the supports meet, this printed very well. I increased the walls and infill and cut the blade into 4 pieces to print on my A1 mini. this is a great design, nice print and easy assembly. thank you!!!

You can print this one and scale it to 80%, it should work. If you don't want a smaller one, there's another published file very similar where the sword is divided in snaller segments.

I love the design. Just wondering what kind of "metal rod" you are suggesting? I mean what length and thickness so I can see if they have it in my local home depot. Sometimes people suggest you buy super simple items but since we all live in different parts of the world they are a bit harder to come by due to local measure units and materials. Thanks.

Hello! Thanks for the compliments. I suggest one 5mm thick threaded rod and a golden bolt to screw onto the knob

Opinion, from what i have seen the cross guard is not flat and oval but a short rounded bottom cylinder with the rounded bottom attached to the handle and the full circle with the blade protruding. In short the cross guard should be less flat more round.
